Here are our top ten tips on how to make things a little easier – especially if you are organising a last-minute hen do:

1. Communication

Communication is key to organising any event, especially one as important as a hen weekend. Remember to get all the names of everyone that the bride-to-be would like invited (with contact details) and set up and invite them to a Facebook group or WhatsApp group. Here you can share hen do ideas and get answers from the group quickly, which is vital if you are planning a last-minute hen party.

2. Research

As soon as you have all the details from the bride-to-be, the guest names, date and type of hen weekend she would like- get online and start researching. Don’t spend too much time doing this as time is of an essence. We would recommend trying some of the wedding magazines and blogs which will all offer inspiration and tips on hen party trends and destination guides.

3. Budget

Setting a budget for the weekend will enable everyone to feel comfortable about what they are signing up for. The bride-to-be needs to be realistic with everyone’s financial situation, if you pick an expensive location and expect everyone to attend, it’s unlikely they will all make it. Try and keep costs down and remember to communicate with the rest of the party about all expenses. Include all costs for extras so that it is clear how much the weekend will cost and not to mention will save you as the organiser being out of pocket

4. Location

Picking the right location is very important for all hen weekends. Do consider where all the guests will be travelling from, there is no point spending a day travelling if you are having a 2-night break.

Also, keep in mind the budget for the weekend and if there are mixed ages and family, pick a location that maybe some guests can come to parts of the weekend and travel home.

5. Theme

A themed hen party is a lot of fun and can turn the hen weekend into one that everyone will never forget. Does the bride love the 90’s or is she a big Harry Potter fan? Pick a theme that is close to the bride-to-be’s heart and that you can incorporate into the weekend.

Popular themes are:

Glitter

All white

Vintage

Popular decades: 80’s, 90’s

Monochrome

Harry Potter

Festival

6. Accommodation

Your best bet if you are organising a last-minute hen weekend is to search on booking.com and Airbnb for late availability.

7.
